I remember Jacqui's story a long time ago. I read a lot about it and the pictures are just horrific. It's amazing how she survives day to day after. The officers that were there before she caught on fire were trying to get her out, then the fire got too close so they backed away and she was screaming. They couldn't do anything and just watched her burn and scream. They thought she was dead after they finally got the fire out(didn't have what they needed before). But she was breathing faintly after the fire was finally put out.
She didn't remember anything, and when she met the officers who saved her she said something along the lines of "So you got there after I was on fire and saved me?" and they were like "No we were watching the whole time"..and she was like wtf. She later accepted that they couldn't do anything about it.
Her dad cries secretly all the time.

I don't see why they only relate this to drinking and driving...why not half-asleep and driving or getting head and driving? Just as dangerous...the same consequences could occur in other similar situations, so why just stress drinking? Most importantly of all....asian and driving.

This happened in Austin, TX on the once most dangerous road in America: FM 2222. I drive up and down the road daily. If anyone's interested I can post a vid of the entire road, and the scene of the accident.

I feel all weak whenever I see that. That's something that's hard for me to watch.
Sad.
She has to suffer for that guy's stupidity, and 2 others died from it. Seven years? Shoot, that should be 7 years of ass-raping in jail.

That's one tough girl.
TORCH
05-13-2006, 07:47 AM
I feel bad for that girl. I've had family members die from drunk driving incidents... being the victims.
At least when I drink, I am usually at home. If I were to be stupid to drive drunk and to get into an accident, I would only hope that I would bne the only death.
If I was in her place I would kill myself, there is no point in living for her now.

Maybe because thousands of people don't die every year from getting head while driving?

I think too much emphasis is placed on drunk drivers. The REAL killers are the dumb BITCH soccer moms driving SUVs and yapping away on their cell phones.

Anyone caught driving drunk should automatically be charged with reckless endangerment.

I like how they show fucking England plates in the wreck, my "high school" video was way more effective, but I'm still going to drink and drive. She should have been more awake at the wheel, I blame both her and the other driver. And Jesus, because he took her so everyone would have a "inspiring" high school video. He works in mysterious ways.

Wow, I live in Austin, TX too and have traveled that road plenty. I am always very careful when driving down that road and now after you say that is one of the most dangerous roads in America, I have to agree with you. Sad thing is that it is right smack in the middle of some of the best neighborhoods in the city of Austin, very up-scale..

She may be freakishly ugly but she can still probably enjoy some shit. Social relations are not the only thing to life.

This is one of those things that, for me, proves there is no god.

i wasnt thinking of social relations, just quality of life in general.

You know what would have been the true test? If she was married when this happened. Thank god she didn't have a boyfriend or husband when this happened.
Could you imagine if this happened to your girlfriend or wife?

I'm amazed that she keeps going strong and giving speeches, doing commercials, etc. For her to be out in the open, turning such a horrible tragedy into a way to keep the same thing from happening to others...that's some serious strength.
And to those who are simply focusing on her disfigurement...Shallow, kiddies, shallow. Yes, she does experience discrimination (read some of her letters on helpjacqui.com), but she doesn't let it get her down, and that is an amazing thing.

Shes the man for staying strong like she is. I'd also have to waste myself the minute I could lift my arm though.

Man, thats horrible.
What gets me mad is that they play 20 no smoking commercials, and I only see like 2 dont drink and drive, followed by 5 beer commercials.
I am amazed that she has the will to go on, I would lose all will to live after that.
