Fight Club

I watched Fight Club the other night and wanted to bring up how awesome this movie is. I can't believe it's been 10 years since the movie was released and they still haven't made another brilliant film from a Chuck Palahniuk novel. I mean Choke was just a disaster on film.

There are so many great Palahniuk stories... I can't believe the studios are not picking those up or getting better directors involved. I mean wasn't Fight Club a huge success? I think it was one of the most influential films I watched. And it has such a huge cult following. There are people that can quote the entire movie!

Such a great film...

I love that movie as well. I am currently re-reading the book, again. I'd like to see Lullaby as a movie. Invisible monsters has been rumored for a long time to be the next one to be a movie. Jessica Biel is supposed to star. That could be a pretty good movie. Survivor is another i'd love to see.

Survivor would be great. I'd really like to see Rant made into a film. I think the studios are waiting to make Rant until after the next two Rant books are complete.

could you recommend one? preferably something more on the sci-fi side.
I've never read anything by him, but Fight Club was definitely an interesting movie.

To answer that question just take a look Choke; great book, mediocre movie adaption. The reason most of his books are not being picked up by studios is because they are all very hard to adapt into movies. Fight Club is an exception, it was carried by an amazing cast, and a great director. Not all his books can be made into movies like that, which is why they aren't.

Read Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey. That is probably the most sci-fi of his books... but also probably one of the hardest to make into a film.

Rant was good, and so was almost everything else he wrote (except Diary and Pygmy, fucking aweful).
It's funny, I was just looking into Chuck the other day to see if he was up to anything and I found out that damn near every one of his books either is, or was, in talks for a movie adaptation.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0657333/

They're not all listed there anymore, but a few others were in talks but fell through for whatever reason.

From what I read the studios are waiting until all the Rant books are complete before producing the Rant trilogy. This may take a while since CP hasn't written those books yet... I have a feeling we might not see it 'till 2019.

Back on Fight Club... It looks like they're finally releasing it on Blu-Ray for the 10 year anniversary! It's about time!

I thought Fight Club was an excellent book. I just wish I read it before the movie. The Shinning is just a masterpiece of cinema.
